Barakat’s 6th Annual Walk for Literacy Update

Take a Step Forward for Education

Grab your family and friends and make sure those shoes were made for walking! You will be supporting our efforts to educate and empower women and children in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Join Barakat at Cambridge Common for our 6th Annual Walk for Literacy starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 28! The Walk is Barakat’s biggest fundraiser and, since it first started in 2008, has drawn over 1,000 walkers and raised over $72,000. We are hoping to beat those numbers by attracting 500 participants this year!

Walk individually or as a team. However you decide to participate, you will get to enjoy the scenic 5-mile route in good company, all the while supporting a worthy cause. This year Barakat’s 5 schools and various literacy programs saw the highest enrollment rate in years with 3,000 women and children looking to get a basic education, so every dollar we raise counts.

Make sure you check out this year’s event sponsorships options, which range from $250+ to $5,000+! You or your company can get the satisfaction of knowing you’ve helped thousands receive the greatest gift of all, education, and get the highest visibility for it!

See you there!
